Upcoming National Holiday in El Salvador, in August

Dear Clients and Friends:

ROMERO PINEDA & ASOCIADOS reminds you that pursuant to Article 190 of the Labor Code, it is established as paid holiday leave on the 6th of August each year, applicable to the workers of the public and private sectors in order to commemorate the Divine Savior of the World.

In addition, it is established as paid holiday leave for the city of San Salvador on 3rd and 5th August. In the other municipalities, it will be the main day of the most important holiday according to custom.

However, It is excluded from all of the above to home workers and workers whose wages have been stipulated by commission or by piecework, adjusting or fixed price.

In this regard, employees working in the referred holiday must be paid an extraordinary wage composed of regular wage plus an extra charge of 100%. Also, if they work overtime or work a night shift, the calculation for the payment of extra charges will be based on the aforementioned extraordinary salary.
